Mold can bother dogs when they live in a damp room: itching, sneezing, watery eyes, or a cough that eases somewhere else. It is not a diagnosis you make from a smell. Common questions
Can dogs get mold allergies?+
They can react to damp-house allergens with skin and airway signs that look like other allergies. A veterinarian should sort that. Lowering humidity helps the building either way.
Should I throw out the dog bed?+
If it smells musty or sat on a wet floor, yes, or wash and dry it until it smells like nothing. A dry bed in a dry corner is the replacement.
Is a little mold in the basement enough to hurt them?+
If they sleep down there, yes, take it seriously. If they never go down and the door seals, still dry it, because the fan may be sharing that air upstairs.
